Issue
Besides the formal educational program that is being given to high-School students, AIESEC Iasi has decided to offer a non-formal module, to help them with making their future plans (e.g. career orientation). Thus, they will have the chance, through StartMe, to explore the world they live in, thus identifying their areas of interest and getting equipped with the necessary skill-set, in order to get ready for their future.
Goal
START ME is to become a non-formal educational platform in Iasi (high-school level) by implementing a complimentary skill-set (career orientation, personal development and education) and mind shift to the students, in their process of heading for the future.
Objectives
Preparation of the project: July 1st 2009 – October 9th 2009
Realization dates: September 23rd (earliest) – October 16th (latest)
Delivery of the project: October 17th (Opening) – November 29th (Official Closing)

Description
The project will start on the 17th of October with the Opening Event, open to all the 200 participants who have been accepted for the project. Beginning with October the 24th, the high-school students participating in the project will receive personal and professional preparation on topics such as intercultural sensitivity, developing personal vision, goal setting, self-discovery through world discovery. Main topics will be different for the two modules, on the 1st module (10th and 11th graders) being delivered sessions on topics such as Education, Environment, Politics, Economics, Religion, Culture (so as to facilitate a realistic knowledge preparation, centered on the reality from Romania), and on the 2nd module (12th graders) there will be offered sessions with the general theme of Career Orientation, centered on different paths that they can choose for the future. The preparation program ends on the 29th of November.
On the 22nd of November, at the Closing Gala, the best team and the most realistic 2 Life Plan Presentations will be awarded, and there will be follow-up events, such as outings with the assigned home group, to assess the progress that has been made, as consequence of taking part in the program.
Impact
Through this Project AIESEC Iasi aims to give high-school students the chance to know themselves better before taking decisions to influence their future, to give them the possibility of connecting through culture and accepting diversity as a way of life. This program not only helps the participants develop themselves personally and professionally, it also breaks the borders between high-schools and nationalities, fostering relationships not only among themselves, but also with the international trainers. In addition to this, they will acquire a very realistic view of how things work in diverse work fields and make contact with people who have experience in building their careers.
